Fifty years of answering the same question.
A family company, three generations in, still making cleaners in America.
It started at the carpet store.
In 1973, our grandfather kept hearing the same thing from customers at his Madison carpet store: isn’t there a better way to get stains out? They didn’t want harsh chemicals. They didn’t want uncertainty about what they were breathing. They wanted something that worked, and they wanted to know what was in it.
Nobody had a good answer. So he started building one — mixing formulas at the back of the shop, between customers, on his own time. Safer ingredients. Fewer fumes. A cleaner he’d actually use on his own floors.
Two years later, that formula had a name and a company behind it. In 1975, TECH Enterprises Inc. launched Final Answer Carpet Cleaner — the back-of-the-shop formula, finally bottled — with a single guiding principle: make cleaners that actually work, using ingredients you don’t have to worry about. No harsh solvents. No overpowering fumes. No uncertainty. That principle hasn’t changed in fifty years.
Final Answer.
The first product off the line was called Final Answer — a carpet cleaner built to do exactly what the name promised. Where other cleaners relied on aggressive chemicals to break down stains, Final Answer used a safer, more thoughtful formula that delivered consistent results without the tradeoffs.
It worked. Carpet stores started carrying it. Customers started asking for it by name. And the pattern was set for everything TECH would make after: start with the problem, build the simplest formula that solves it, and never compromise on safety to get there.
Final Answer led to TECH Stain Remover — a more versatile, all-purpose formula designed to tackle everyday messes throughout the home. Carpets, upholstery, clothing, hard surfaces. The same philosophy, applied wider. The product line grew because the principle held up.
Three generations, one bottle at a time.
What makes TECH unusual isn’t the products — it’s the continuity. Three generations of the same family now share the work of running this company. The formulas evolve. The packaging changes. The distribution grows. But the decision-making stays in the family, and the standards stay where they started.
Every product is still made in the United States. Every formula is still tested against the same question that started the company: does this actually work, and is it safe to use where your family lives? If the answer to either question is no, it doesn’t ship.
That’s not a marketing line. It’s a family standard — one that’s easier to keep when the people making the decisions are the same people whose name is on the company.
Fifty years, one family.
